NCRI – The Iranian Resistance offers its condolences to the family and friends of Kurdish political prisoner Mansour Arvand and the Kurdish people, in particular the people of Mahabad, for the criminal execution of this 39-year-old wrestler and coach in Miandoab Prison. It calls on all compatriots, particularly the youth, to protest against these arbitrary executions and rush to support and express solidarity with the families of those executed and political prisoners.
The Iranian Resistance also calls on the international community to unequivocally condemn the escalating trend of executions in Iran, particularly the execution of political prisoners. Instead of turning a blind eye to the atrocities of this regime under the pretext of nuclear negotiations and “moderating” the criminal mullahs, the dossier of the Iranian regime’s leaders needs to be sent to the United Nations Security Council for them to face justice for crimes against humanity.
Mansour Arvand who was a popular sportsman from Mahabad was arrested in June 2011. He was condemned to death for “Moharebeh” [enmity with God] and “propaganda against the system and membership of Kurdish Democratic Party” by the regime’s iniquitous courts while he was deprived of choosing a lawyer. During the four years of his imprisonment in various prisons, including the intelligence prison of Mahabad and Evin Prison, he underwent the most severe tortures and was suffering from various illnesses because of that, including renal infection. He was executed despite the fact that he had been told that his sentence had been commuted to life in prison.
