Photojournalist Majid Saeedi had been arrested at his house on June 30, 2009 by security agents who also confiscated a number of his belongings. He was present at the court hearings of post-election defendants also known as “stage-trials”, and was released later on bail.
According to Kaleme, Majid Saeedi has been a photojournalist for 20 years and has worked with domestic and international press and newspapers.
Majid Saeedi has said: “If the law is to be respected, my innocence will be proved as I did nothing but fulfilling my duty as a journalist. I covered Mousavi’s electoral campaign as I also took photos from Ahmadinejad’s campaign. Why is that I have been tried on the charge of taking photographs from Mousavi, and not Ahmadinejad?!”
